Excel Academy Charter School

Goal: Strengthen the voice of Excel through its social channels and build a stronger more engaged community during COVID Spring 2020

Campaign Details: In March 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and social unrest following George Floyd's killing, Excel Academy recognized the urgent need for effective community communication through social media. I led a collaborative effort with a leadership team to develop a strategic plan focused on showcasing our diverse community and supporting the anti-racism movement while navigating the sensitivities of public education. By working closely with the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, the CEO, and school leaders, we facilitated discussions among stakeholders and ensured our content was carefully curated and scrutinized. This approach highlighted student achievements and resulted in a 300% increase in Instagram followers and 80% growth in Facebook engagement over three months, successfully strengthening our community ties during a challenging period.
